Europe
The Foundation on European Studies (Europe 2002), established in 1994 and renewed in 1999 considers one of its basic objectives to provide, on regular basis, systematic information on the key issues of Hungary's preparation for and accession to the European Union to a broad audience composed of representatives of the political, economic and social areas.
In September 2000, the Foundation decided to support the efficient preparation of Hungary and her successful adjustment to the EU structures in a new way. As a result, in cooperation with Bank Austria, the Club Europe has been created. This civil organization aims at:
· providing first-hand information and knowledge on the preparation for membership and on the process of negotiations on accession;
· creating an informal forum for domestic business and entrepreneurs, university professors and students dealing with EU-related topics, various interest and professional groups of the Hungarian society as well as for experts shaping the public opinion in order to discuss topical issues concerning Hungary's accession to the European Union;
· actively involving the business community and the Hungarian entrepreneurial sphere into the process of accession and providing opportunities to express concrete business interests and expectations by their representatives;
· forwarding opinions expressed in the seminars to decision-makers.
The priority aim of the Club Europe seminars is to establish a forum for informal exchange of views introduced by a presentation or a panel discussion of 20 to 25 minutes.
The events take place on the third Tuesday of each month, at 5.00 p.m. in the headquarters of UniCredit Bank (1054 Budapest, Szabadság tér 5-6.). Access is free of charge.
The most important potential discussion subjects related to the processes inside the European Union and the speakers to be invited will be identified in cooperation with the founding and sponsoring organizations and with due consideration of the preference of the members of the Club Europe.
The Foundation on European Studies (Europe 2002) is highly interested in building the seminar series of the Club Europe on the active participation and cooperation of the Club members. At the same time, and in line with the successful pattern developed in Austria, it is envisaged to establish a network of sponsors with longer-term commitment.
In implementing our ideas and efforts, we are very much looking forward to cooperating with you.
